“Ah, did I die?” Idoko, as some people would call her, asked herself this. “This doesn’t seem to be heaven, so it must be my imagination. Ah, but no matter! Wherever this place might be, I’ll do my best, Daddy!”
Another voice he found vaguely familiar? He wasn’t sure exactly…
“Do her best” she says, yet where would she begin? Once again finding herself in another “world”, she thought of exploring this strange place all by herself. since she remembered not experiencing any sort of difficulty at all during her stay in that other strange place inside the well. Having noticed the presence of other people in this area, she considered approaching one of them, but that became unnecessary when someone else approached her instead.
She was about to greet the stranger whose voice seemed quite familiar, but was unable to do so when she got a good look at him. This person… didn’t he fall down a well? What was he doing here then?
Unable to find the right words to say, she only managed to let out a single word. “… Vati?”
It took him another little while to really realize what he saw. His daughter, whom he didn’t see for years after the incident and mistakingly left in the care of his horrible second wife, was right in front of him. It had to be her. The way she muttered what she always called him was all too familiar. He could feel his knees starts to weaken, and he acted without thinking. He ran to close the small distance between them, picked up the girl and swung her into a hug. “ Meine tochter..! “

It had been far too long since he was able to do this. It nearly brought tears to his eyes. ” There’s so much I’ve been meaning to tell you, so much I’ve been meaning to apologize for.. ” He pulled back a little to smile at her, one mixed with being over joyed and pained and lost for words all at the same time. ” And most importanly, since we’ve finally found each other, maybe the two of us can finally go home. ” Finding which door to take would be the only thing standing in their way, he hoped. But with Idoko now with him, he was sure everything would turn out just fine.
